Social Construction of Demand process

What is the “Social Construction of Demand” approach ?

The Social Construction of Demand (SCD) approach is a methodological framework that can be applied to strengthen agricultural cooperatives by helping them better understand the diverse needs of their farmer members and, in turn, develop more effective and responsive support services. It moves away from proposing standardised, “ready-made” solutions and instead equips development agents and cooperative technicians with tools to co-construct solutions based on the actual situations and concerns of farming households. By starting with the actual situations, practices, and concerns of farmers, it enables the co-construction of more relevant and effffective services, thereby promoting more sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.
