The workshop that will be held on March 31 and April 1, entitled “The CAP towards 2020: market regulation and structural policy” will address two major issues for the future European common agricultural policy.

- The first issue to be discussed March 31 is the regulation of agricultural markets. Discussions will focus on a comparative analysis between market regulation instruments and decoupled aids, in terms of effectiveness and cost of the respective instruments and of their impact on the market power of farmers and risk management.

- The second issue to be discussed on April 1 is the establishment of a structural policy. Discussions will focus on the concentration of farms and its impact on sustainability, on the role of the CAP in this concentration and on what structural policy should be promoted. The issue of corporate farming in the EU and its impact on family farming will also be discussed.

The workshop is intended for an audience of different stakeholders of the Common Agricultural Policy: farmer’s organizations representatives, development and environmental NGOs , consumer associations, academics and policy makers from different parts of the European Union.
