Call PAEPARD for application for support to the develoment of multi-stakeholder partnerships that promote demand-driven agricultural innovation and research
All the versions of this article: [English] [français] In the frame of PAEPARD, a call for application for support was just launched: "Call for application for support to the develoment of multi-stakeholder partnerships that promote demand-driven agricultural innovation and research" (see here below). With this call, PAEPARD wants to support the development of innovative and research-oriented Africa-Europe partnerships in agricultural research for development (ARD). The inclusion of non-research actors (farmers’organizations, NGOs, private sector,…) in these partnerships is necessary to reach this objective. And, to insure a real inclusion of these actors, a partnership-building phase is essential to develop a common vision and to set each organisation’s role and responsibilities jointly. However, donors/financiers often fail to allow for this partnership-building phase. That is why PAEPARD aims to support the building of partnerships around research projects, rather than research projects in themselves. Support offered includes the opportunity for different actors to meet during a several-day’s workshop (“partnership inception workshop”) and to set the groundwork (basis) for the writing of a research project. Each team will propose a trusted and neutral facilitator who will facilitate communication and will help the team to reach its objectives. Moreover, each facilitator will benefit from a specific PAEPARD-organized training. Finally, each team will benefit from individual support in terms of coordination and capacity strengthening. More details are available in the call. The current call (December 2010) targets pre-formed partnerships (partners already identified and mobilized) that have already identified a potential source of funding for the future research project. Interested partnerships are invited to formulate a demand with the form in annex before January 28 2011. Selection criteria are detailed in the call and applicants will be informed of the result of their application on 18 February 2011. Another type of call will be launched later in 2011, in order to allow actors who want to develop innovative and research-oriented Africa-Europe partnerships to identify partners and potential sources of funding. titre documents joints
