Julie Flament, 28 juillet 2010
Mots-clés:

The UK Food Group, as part of EuropAfrica, an EC funded public awareness raising project, with European NGOs (Terra Nuova, CSA, Centro Internazionale Crocevia, UK Food Group/Practical Action and GAIA Foundation, Hungary) and the African Farmers’ Regional Networks (ROPPA, PROPAC, EAFF), is organising this conference to explore approaches and models of production that put food for people at the centre of policy and practice in both Africa and Europe.

The conference will focus especially on ecological food provision and strengthening local food webs as a way to achieve a more equitable food system. It will ask how European and African regional policies can help realise this.

This conference will examine approaches to providing food for the majority and how this will be produced and by whom. This is in order to improve access to food in ways that also secures livelihoods, sustains the environment and will help realise people’s Right to Food and food sovereignty.

Confirmed speakers include leaders of West, Central and East African farmers’ regional networks (ROPPA, PROPAC, EAAF). Caroline Lucas MP, Prof. Olivier De Schutter, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, a representative of the European Commission’s Development Division as well as UK/European NGOs.
