In parallel to the « World Summit on Food Security » (see above), the Civil society organize a Forum from 13 to 17 November 2009, called « We the people demand: Food Sovereignty now ! »
The call to participate at the Forum can be downloaded on the website of CSA.

An independent Steering Committee was set up to enable the different omponents of Civil Society to build their own platform and contribute to the Summit. The text of the terms of reference of the Steering Committee can also be downloaded on the CSA website.
The Steering Committee is composed by representatives of different concerned sectors : farmers (IFAP, Via Campesina, ROPPA - Africa, COPROFAM – Latin America, AFA – Asia), fisherfolk, pastoralists, indigenous people, organizations of farm and food workers,, environmental networks, agro ecological organizations, urban poor organizations, youth and human rights organizations, international NGOs, women’s groups, INGO Ad-hoc group with a formal status towards FAO, IPC and Italian platform for food sovereignty (host country). It is the IPC that will ensure the secretariat of the Forum.

An important output of the Forum will be a Joint Declaration which will be submitted to the plenary assembly of the Summit. Because of the constraints of space, it will not be possible to accept all the requests for participation and quotas were given for the various sectors concerned. The interested organizations are invited to return the form of interest for the Forum, which can also be downloaded.
